Help!! Cannot install oracle on P4 [message #53374]

I�m using the same Oracle 8.1.6/8.1.7 CD to install on two machines. Both are running with Window 2000 Server sp3. The different is that one PC is Pentium 3, the other one is Pentium 4. I can successfully install on Pentium 3 machine but not on Pentium 4 machine. Whenever I double click on the setup icon, it disappears. I can�t even start the installation process.

Are there any issues between Pentium 3 and Pentium 4? Please advice!!

Search for the file : symcjit.dll and rename to symcjit.bak

Then retry the installation
if it don't work finly, find the patch and run it. It will be good.

Parles-tu le fran�ais?

Si oui, recherche le fichier : symcjit.dll et renomme le en symcjit.bak

Et reprend l'installation

You need to download patch 1507768 from oracle web site, this installs the oracle installer then after you have this pacth you can install your 8i without any problems

Hi Vincent,

I had renamed "symcjit.dll" file but it's still not working.

Lena had mentioned about the patch 1507768, shall i know where it is available? pls advise
