i want to know about importing,for which i do not know the user name from which it was export and the database name, and size.
please help me about this.

YOu do not need to know the above. If someone were to give me an export dump file... I can do a full import into an equivalent version of the database or higher on any platform.
imp dbauser/dbauser file=expdat.dmp full=y log=imp.log
There are other options also .
This should do it.
Get familiar with the oracle utilities manual - this is simple and straight forward...

it is not working it giving error, help more me about this. the error message giving as follows.
Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
Export file created by EXPORT:V08.01.05 via conventional path
IMP-00013: only a DBA can import a file exported by another DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
