hello,
Dump the CD into u r harddrive,
Replace the SYMCJIT.dll to SYMCJIT.OLD as 'B' Suggested and then run the setup..It will be fine for sure.
Otherwise use oracle 9i installer to run the setup...

i beleive it is the compatibility issue with RedHat 8.
try this>?
Install the following packages. These packages can be found on the Red
7.1 installation media:
rpm -ihv compat-libs-6.2-3.i386.rpm
rpm -ihv compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2.i386.rpm
rpm -ihv compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.14.i386.rpm
-Additionally set the appropriate environment variables to use the
compatibility files.
Can be done through a shell script provided by the compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
package:
source /usr/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh
Or you can set the variables manually:
For sh or bash shell:
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5; export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
*LDEMULATION=elf_i386_glibc21; export LDEMULATION
*GCC_EXEC_PREFIX=/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/gcc-lib; export GCC_EXEC_PREFIX; export GCC_EXEC_PREFIX
For csh
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.2.5
* setenv LDEMULATION elf_i386_glibc21
*setenv GCC_EXEC_PREFIX /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/gcc-lib
